In January 2010 Professor Leonardo Guimarães representing the research team on oil reservoirs at UFPE (The Federal University of Pernambuco), active for ten years working on various research projects with Petrobras (Brazilian Oil Company), was chosen as chairman of Energi Simulation Industrial Chair on Reservoir Simulation entitled "Reservoir Modeling and Robust Optimization".
Chair activities are focused in following three main areas:

1. Reactive Transport and Geomechanical Analysis Applied to Reservoir Engineering

2. Surrogate-Based Optimization

3. Uncertainty Quantification

The results of this Chair will assist companies in the oil industry to make decisions in the management and control of injection and production equipment, maximizing their use and minimizing risks in the exploitation of oil reservoirs.
